In case you can’t tell, the mercury has dropped and winter is well and truly upon us! But don’t worry, you can warm up with our brand new winter menu that officially launched last week.
We welcomed a few guests to taste test our new offering for you and the verdict is in – winters at Cafe Catalina are a hit! A big thanks to Good Food Gold Coast and Relish Food and Life for their kind words.
Over a 12-course degustation, guests enjoyed a variety of plates off the new menu, featuring fresh seafood from the Coast’s best seaways, nutritious local produce and herbs from our very own kitchen garden.
The winter menu was a collaboration between our culinary duo, Prashant Chauhan and Laurence Griffin, who put a twist on Australian cuisine while focusing on the flavours of the season and the relaxed, coastal vibe that we love at Cafe Catalina.
The launch of the menu kicked off with delicious Hervey Bay scallops, followed by fresh local prawns and the palate-pleasing mushroom arancini. And of course diners relished in the flavoursome pumpkin, green bean and lentil coconut curry as well as gnocchi with slow-cooked lamb ragu – talk about spoiled for choice! The phrase ‘wine and dine’ truly came to life as the dishes were paired with a few of our food-friendly wines.
To make things even sweeter, guests treated themselves to not one, but two of our heavenly desserts! Both the crème brûlée with peanut brittle and the banana pudding with whiskey caramel were the perfect ending to the occasion.
Our delectable selection of food and wine could only be topped by the beautiful backdrop that is the Gold Coast Broadwater. That view never gets old!
